Equipment and technology

Our ability to deliver quality outcomes to our clients, within tight time frames and budgets is enhanced by the range of equipment we own and operate ourselves. This removes our reliance on external contractors. We continue to invest in the equipment needed to ensure that all stages of work for clients are carried out to the high standards set in our mission statement. Our current equipment inventory includes the following:

  • Two diesel-powered drilling rigs equipped with 140 mm and 90 mm diameter solid flight augers and thin wall sample collection tubes. A selection of diamond-tipped concrete corers enables fast, clean access through concrete paving without the need to hire compressors and rock drills. Rig 1 is a Toyota diesel 4WD with integral hydraulic drill rig. The rig mast is demountable in sections to enable access to low clearance areas. Rig 2 is a trailer mounted hydraulic drill rig towed by Toyota Landcruiser. The rig mast drops hydraulically to enable access to low clearance areas, while its high ground clearance and all-terrain capability allows usage on sites which are inaccessible to two wheel drive vehicles. This rig also has hollow flight auger and rock roller drilling capability.

  • 14 tonne drilling rig with rock drilling capability (Edson 2000, mounted on Isuzu truck with rock drilling capability to approximately 130 m.
  • 7730 DT Geoprobe direct push sampler and drilling rig. This 4.5 tonne machine is the largest and latest model in the renowned Geoprobe range, and is one of only two machines of its type in Australia. The 7700 series Geoprobe enables us to obtain high quality continuous core soil samples, and also to collect field data relating to a wide range of soil and groundwater parameters.
  • Mobile multiphase vacuum extraction and treatment (MPVE) unit for recovery of fuel, vapor and contaminated water from sub surface spills. The unit is towed and supplied by a diesel Toyota Landcruiser Tray Truck.
  • QED Sample Pro portable micropurge pump equipment for low flow sampling of groundwater monitoring wells to meet current best practise requirements. This pump uses replaceable bladders for use on successive wells and allows collection of representative groundwater samples with minimal disruption to the aquifer.

  • Hydrolab Quanta water quality meter for the accurate field measurement of groundwater parameters. Parameters include temperature, dissolved oxygen, electrical conductivity, pH and REDOX potential. With the inline flow cell attached to the transmitter, this equipment allows real time analysis of water quality parameters when sampling with the micropurge pump.

  • Rae Systems Professional Photoionisation Detectors. These high precision field instrument are used to measure concentrations of volatile hydrocarbons in field samples. The PID has an in built data logger for direct download of data to computer on return from the field. This minimises the possibility of inadvertent mis-recording of results.
  • Numerous other equipment including compressors, diaphragm pumps, generators, slurry pumps.
